Comments for recent posts enabled: now using Disqus

Disqus logoTo make commenting easier and more manageable, we are trying the Disqus plugin for WordPress.  Because Disqus is a “shared” platform, you can create one Disqus account to log in and post on any site using the Disqus system.  You may also log in using an attached account, such as Google, Facebook, OpenID, etc.  Hopefully this will make commenting easier for our many readers!

Note that we have  enabled comments going back only a few months.  Earlier posts will remain closed to commenting for the time being.

Many Corners, One Site

We’ve reorganized things here a  bit: to help divide up our content, we have now more clearly separated our posts into their respective Corners.   In the spirit of the original Rudy’s Corner, all music, video and book reviews are under the main “Music, Video & Print” category.  Gadgets, such as audio and video hardware, computers, Zune portables and other tech items are now in Gadget Corner.  Due to the increasing number of topics and a future project in the works, Android phones have their own Corner here.  Gaming Corner will feature articles and reviews of video games.  And as always, “Say What?” will be anything else you can think of.

We are considering a new theme for the site, which will prominently feature these major sections as menu tabs across the top but, until then, the “Corners” are now listed below our site’s main navigation menu on the left.  If the reorganization still proves to be too hectic, Rudy’s Corner may very well split into a network of related sites.  Thanks for visiting!

Music Review Changes

Located here in our pages linked at left, I have our Desert Island Discs page.  In the past, this page listed all of my Desert Island picks.  Rather than continue adding to a lengthy page, I’ve split each disc off into its own separate sub-page.  This not only makes reading easier, and pages easier to find, it also allows me to expand on these entries to flesh them out into full-blown reviews.  I haven’t yet begun rewriting most of these yet, but it’ll be happening over the next few weeks.

And rather than do a “runners-up” section, I’m going to focus my attention on a Recommended Recordings list, which includes more recordings of merit that might not warrant having a “Desert Island Disc” tag hung on them, but are still noteworthy enough for me to recommend them.  These will be selected items from my collection, including a few that may be out of print (but good enough that I’d recommend seeking them).  At any rate, enjoy the upgrades!
