As many readers may recall, I was hemming and hawing as to which portable music player I would go with. Going against what I thought I wanted, I ended up with something that fits my needs and, so far, has proven to be even better than I’ve imagined in the past. Discovering Burt Bacharach’s “Futures”
When it was first released, I was not that fond of Burt Bacharach’s “Futures” album. Part of the reason was that I’d gotten it on cassette, and ti never sounded all that good. Coupled with the rather “dark” mood of the album, it never really sank in. Fast forward 30 or more years, and I have a new perspective on the album. It’s not a total about-face, but it certainly isn’t the runt of the A&M litter by any means.

I’ve been sitting on the sidelines watching different MP3 players come and go. I refuse to buy into the iPod mentality, and pay a 50% premium just to own a popular brand name. So, I’ve been watching a couple of other options, and I think I may have narrowed my choices down to a few. Read on!
