Halloween Music!

Here it is: midnight, October 31! Time for some ghoulish music of any kind! What’s your favorite? Leave a comment or two listing a few that you like!

I don’t really have any hard, fast list of Halloween favorites, but I have been considering putting together some kind of “spooky” music CD to use for the next time we hand out candy at the house. Put a blacklight on the porch, and maybe even make a coffin and hang some spider webs to creep out the kids a bit! All in the name of fun, of course.

What would I play?

Bobby “Boris” Pickett: “Monster Mash”. Yes, it’s overplayed a bit, but it is still good fun!

Black Sabbath: I’d probably pick stuff like “Black Sabbath”, “Faeries Wear Boots” and a few other gems. There’s nothing really spooky in Ozzy’s solo repertoire, except maybe for “Mr. Crowley”.

Any recording of “Night On Bald Mountain” would work. And similarly in a classical direction, a good organ recording of Bach’s famous “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor”, which seems to be what any well-practiced spooky organ player would hammer out.

Rob Zombie? Maybe! “Dragula” would be a good choice. (Dragula was the name of Grandpa Munster’s hot rod.)

There are various sound bites from songs I’d use in a compilation, such as “Run Like Hell” from Dark Side Of The Moon.

And finally, a few of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie themes would be good Halloween choices, such as the main theme from “Psycho.”

For anyone who happened to listen, Matt The Catt on XM5 had an excellent Halloween show!
