For the third time in as many years, I’ve downloaded Ubuntu and burned the ISO image to CD. With Ubuntu, you can try it out by booting up the CD (the LiveCD feature). You don’t get all of Ubuntu’s functionality, or install other software, but you can get a good feel for how Ubuntu looks and feels. Performance is also a bit slow when the OS has to access the CD to retrieve more data, but that’s not a big deal since Ubuntu seems to use memory space to run the OS in LiveCD mode. My first (or maybe I should say “third”) impressions of Ubuntu are below.

Twitter: No More Tweets

Does the world need another web browser? Google thinks so, and today, their new browser product, Google Chrome, was released. A free download, Chrome offers something different to web users. But is it just another browser, or does it really offer something new?
Firefox 3.0 Tricks and Tips
I have picked up a few new tricks and tips with Firefox 3.0. I’m not sure if these were available prior to 3.0 (I know at least one of them was), but they’re worth mentioning regardless. Anything posted here will work in 3.0, but it’s up to you to try them in 2.x versions.
Planning a music server
I’m stuck here without my CDs–most of them are in storage right now. I’ve been increasingly interested in setting up some kind of central music server, and using a remote device via the network (hopefully wirelessly) to play the music on systems throughout the house. It’s just in the early planning stages right now, but I’ll keep everyone informed on the progress. My early sketches are below.
